Amazing Work!!!

I needed to remove my tub and install a walk-in shower due to medical concerns. Some of the funding was being paid by me, but a large portion of it was coming from a HISA grant from the VA. They were willing to take payments when I received them (half of the VA money up front and the other half after completion). This made the project affordable for me. The salesman, Doug, went over all my options for the shower walls, shower heads, grab bars, shower doors etc. I decided that if I was going to have a major project done, that I would add a few other things. I had the vanity moved to the linen closet, and had the door widened. I was responsible for the purchase of the vanity, faucet and mirror. A fee was added for the installation due to the need to wire my lighted mirror and run new plumbing for the sink/faucet. Another fee was added for widening the door and installing the new one. I was told it would be 6-8 weeks before the project would begin, because everything is manufactured for the precise specifications or your project space. Because I was getting this done in the era of covid-19, it was more like 19 weeks, but the completed project was well worth the wait. The installers were extremely professional. They arrived with masks on and ready to work. The demo work was done in the first day. Some issues arose along the way, but they took it in stride ... the hot and cold water were on the wrong sides, (they fixed that), the new lighted mirror was ready to be installed, but it was 3/4" too wide for the space it was going (they made a slit in the drywall and made it fit), but it gave the appearance of backlighting as well as the light in the front. The new door was opening in the opposite direction of the original door and was hitting a wall light fixture that we kept, so they put a door stop on the new door to protect the existing sconce. The header for the shower doors was slightly dented when it was received from the manufacturer. It will be replaced in a few days, as soon as they receive the replacement at the shop. For an additional fee, I could have had them paint the bathroom, too, but I think I can handle that part myself. The day after the installers left, Doug came back to do a final walk through. He took the "after" photos and sent them to the VA while we were going over the completion documents. He will be following up with me next week to make sure that the header has been replaced. I now have a beautiful new, user friendly bathroom! I couldn't be happier with the way my project came out! Even with the hiccups that we encountered, the professionals at Bath Planet of the Southern Tier made this project go as smoothly as possible. I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking to get a major bathroom remodel done!
